We're excited to officially announce the next chapter in our community giving program: Lakewood's Growth and Giving! As we anticipated, this initiative will celebrate the anticipated success of Phase 2B and support the vital work of the Strathmore Overnight Shelter.
Building on the momentum of our successful "Not In My City" initiative with Paul Brandt during Phase 2A, we're continuing our commitment to making a positive impact in our community. That previous initiative brought much-needed attention to the issue of human trafficking, and now, we're focusing our efforts locally.
Supporting Vulnerable Individuals:
The Strathmore Overnight Shelter is a crucial organization providing support to vulnerable individuals in our area. Through Lakewood's Growth and Giving, we'll be raising funds to support the Shelter's facility renovation and upgrades, helping them better serve those in need.
Tying Our Growth to Community Giving:
This initiative is directly linked to the success of Phase 2B. As we achieve key milestones, we'll be one step closer to reaching our donation goal. These milestones include:
Lot Sales: 80% of the available lots in Phase 2B sold to builders. Development Approvals: Achieving all necessary development entitlements, approvals, endorsements, and financing within the required timeframe. Construction Adherence: Staying on track with the established construction schedule. Build-Out and Home Sales: Successfully completing home construction and sales. How We'll Give Back:
For every lot sold in Phase 2B (a total of 76 lots), Lakewood will donate $1,000. This means we have the potential to contribute $76,000 to the Strathmore Overnight Shelter!
Timeline & How You Can Stay Updated:
Our discussions with the Strathmore Overnight Shelter began in December 2024, followed by a successful lot draw. We're currently working through the approvals process and anticipate construction/servicing to begin in Spring 2025. We're aiming to present the donation in Summer/Fall 2025, with lot purchases expected to be completed by Summer 2026.
We'll be sharing regular updates on our progress right here on the blog, as well as on our social media channels, through local radio and newspapers, and via digital advertising. Stay tuned to learn more about how you can get involved and support the Strathmore Overnight Shelter!
We're incredibly excited about this opportunity to give back to the community that has supported us. Together, we can make a real difference!
